A Note of Gratitude
On behalf of Aiding Survivors of Human Trafficking and Child Abuse (AID), I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your participation and support of our 2024 convening. Your presence and engagement demonstrate a shared commitment to supporting immigrants and refugees in our region, a cause that is more crucial now than ever.
Each of you plays a vital role in creating a more welcoming and inclusive region. Whether you're a long-time advocate, a service provider, or someone new to this work, your dedication to upholding the dignity and rights of our immigrant and refugee neighbors is valued and appreciated.
The challenges faced by immigrants and refugees in our community are complex and often overwhelming. However, the strength and purpose I witnessed in our gathering—the exchange of ideas, the sharing of support, and the forging of new partnerships—gives me hope for our future. Together, we are building a network of regional support that can make a real difference in people's lives.
As we move forward, I invite you to continue this important work with each other. Our collective effort amplifies our impact and resilience in the face of adversity.
For those looking to deepen your impact, I encourage you to consider connecting with Canopy NWA. Their efforts complement our work at Aiding Survivors of Human Trafficking and Child Abuse, and they may welcome new volunteers and supporters. Of course, as I mentioned at the Convening, AID loves to welcome volunteers but we require 20 hours a week minimum and Spanish-English fluency, and of course that is a high ask for folks!
Additionally, if you're in a position to do so, please consider making a donation to Aiding Survivors of Human Trafficking and Child Abuse. Your financial support allows us to continue providing critical legal services and advocacy for immigrants in our state. AID is Arkansas’ only unrestricted law firm and our services make child survivors eligible for things like in-state tuition, work permits, Medicaid, an end to their removal proceedings and a path to US Citizenship. To keep these services free is of course no easy task. If you or anyone you know would like to learn more about supporting AID, please reach out to me. As an attorney, I handle a lot of the legal work at AID but as the executive director, I am also the grant writer and donor relationship manager and I’m always excited to connect with folks who might support our mission.
Thank you once again for your participation, your passion, and your unwavering commitment to justice and human dignity. Together, we can create a more just and more welcoming Arkansas for all.
With gratitude and hope,
Léo Gabriel Tucker
